  1. You can be a nurse's aid by taking a short class at vo-tech. You need no training to work in the kitchen or as a housekeeper.

  2. most nursing homes offer training as a CNA free,  for those they intend to employ.

do not waste your time on internet certifications many states do not even recognize the certificates from them and they will not let you test for licensing with these certifications.

call some of your local nursing homes and ask about CNA certification classes. these classes require 40 hours of classroom work and 35 hours of clinical work. after completion you can work while waiting to take and pass your state boards and skills test. you have 120 days and 3 attempts to pass the state licensing requirements to be a CNA. to be a care-giver in a medicare approved nursing facility you must be licensed by the state(or within the 120 days for testing).

this certification can also be gained through many vocational schools and even high school in some states.

once you see what the work is like you can decide if you would like to continue on with nursing. you can be an LPN in as little as 1 year and an RN in as little as 2 (depending on your grades, ability and the program).

read ALL the information in these following sites:

    CNA

    http://www.bls.gov/oco/ocos165.htm

    LPN

    http://www.bls.gov/oco/ocos102.htm

    RN

  3. Get a job as a CNA (nurse's aide). It's a very short training program. You would be helping with toileting, ambulating (walking), feeding, bathing, and anything else they need help with, including turning them in bed to prevent bed sores.

It's a very physically demanding job and you have to have a very strong stomach, but if you have a passion for it then after working as a CNA you may want to go onto nursing school.

  4. I'm training in a nursing home to be an LNA. Theres a girl in my class who is already a care giver.. but to make the real money you need to letters after you name.

I went thru "LNA Health careers" They are in a few states...and they have a website. $1380 and 7 week course.

You can train and work at the same time...you need to get your license 120 days after starting work though..which is the tough part. But if you are already a caregiver...it shouldn't be an issue for you at all.

    Good luck!!!
