Going on about not using tap water, adding salt and chemicals, species you can and cant keep together, etc. can some one give me an easy basic guide as to how i can get started and maybe a little list of fish i can put together. Thank you

  1. Try Mollies, If you want ALOT of fish! Yes, mollies ARE considered

tropical fish! They are easy to take care of for First-Timers, and they breed LIKE CRAZY!!! Also, try google-ing it! Also, the food is called Tetramin. GOOD LUCK!!!

  3. Stay with fresh water fish, get a hearty species like goldfish, mollies etc, then as you get more knowledge, you can buy more exotic fish, you might lose a few, but that's how you learn anything, by doing.

  4. You will need a heater, gravel and a filter.  Just make sure that you get a community fish(these are usually not aggressive).  Start with a few, I started with platies.  When you first start the tank you have to make sure that your ammonia, nitrite and nitrate levels stay low.  You still need to check them after your tank is established.  You need to make sure that you neutralize the water.  I use tap water with the neutralizer.  I change out about 15-20% of my water weekly.  There is a lot to it.  The local pet store can help you out a lot.  Go to the pet store and just find a fish that you like and they can tell what fishes will get along together.  The main thing is to not overfeed your fish and to not overstock your tank.  The rule is one inch of fish per gallon(that is once the tank is established).  Good  Luck.

  5. Just don't be lazy.  Read the sites.  You need to know how to do things.  We will just tell you to do the same things.  Adding chemicals, salt, not using tap water, and species relations ARE the basics of fish keeping.  read.  We aren't here to spoon feed you.
