I would love a dog, what should I do?

I am missing my dog who died 4 years ago and would love another one, but I work as a sales rep and am in and out of my car all day. Is there a breed of dog that would tolerate this sort of lifestyle, or am I just being selfish???

  1. Hey how about buying an nintendo DS LITE and an Nintendogs the are pretty good. You don't need to feed them in REALITY.

  2. Are you intending on leaving the dog at home?  If so, can you get two dogs so they'll have each other for company during the day?

Or were you going to take the dog with you all day?  Most dogs love car rides.  But they need exercise, so if you can take it to a dog park at lunch so it can run around and play for an hour a day and if it's a small dog it might be okay.  Especially if you have a car where you can put the back seats down and make a nice place for the dog to be.  Depends on the weather/temperature too.  Could be okay if you don't work long hours.

Personally, I would get two dogs and let them have the house and yard while you are working and maybe take them with you once a week or something.

  3. Try a smaller dog like these that you can take with you in your car and walk it 3 times a day and feed and water:

    Chihuahua

    Yorkshire Terrier

    Dachshund

    Bulldog

    Boston Terrier

    Pit Bull

  4. How about getting a cat instead?

  5. Loosing a dog is hard, but i seriously wouldn't suggest going out to get another one just to fill the gap. And also as you probably know having a dog is a fill time commitment, so with your lifestyle its probably not best to get another pet, and no i dont think its selfish you just want to feel that bond you had with your last pet.

If you had someone else in your family to take care of the dog whenever you weren't able, that would also help, but i still think it would be completely unfair on the animal.

    But good luck!

You might be able to find your type of dog here.

There are always plenty of other pets out there that do not need alot of taking care of as well, e.g. guinea pigs + fishes etc.

  7. eather get 2 dogs or don't get them at all if u are not going to see it then there is no poing getting a dog

  8. A cat might be good but I am a sales man and I have a little poodle she comes with me a lot but not on hot days and if it is hot I always have a wet towel for her to lay on and water to drink. Also a car starter to give her a/c for I am a sucker for her. But if you are never home it is not the best life for a dog.

  9. Try not getting a dog.

    Try getting something

    like a goldfish???

or like something you can keep in the car?

  10. Idealy, dogs should not be left alone for more than 5 hours each day, consecutive or not. If you truly believe you have the time and that having a dog in your life would make it all that much better, I think you should consider a low maintance dog grooming wise and the such.....how big is your backyard? What breed did you have before hand? Also just make sure you can provide a long walk each day depending on what breed you get and a little play time here and there. There are many toys that can amuse dogs for ages on end.....but when you get home make your dog your number one priority! =] Good luck =]

*Haha....typical. Rate people down for opinions and not facts or information? Sheesh.....*

  11. probably not.all breeds need care and attention.

  12. Wait till you get another job and you can spend more time with the dog.
