She has nut, , sunflower seed/oil, soy and tree nut allergies so I have to be careful there.

Also she would like things packed like a bento box. Thanks for any ideas!

  1. I totally understand having a child with severe allergies to almost everything. It can make it difficult to stray from the norm. I tend to stick to whatever doesn't make my Daughter sick or feeling unwell.

Tortillas with sandwich makings, tuna, egg salad, etc. They are fun to eat.

Getting little mini cookie cutter and cutting things like breads and cheese into those shapes.

Putting things like fruit and veggies on a Kabob and having dips. Yogurt dips and others.

    Having leftovers from dinner.

I wish you the best and hope your Daughter will outgrow a few of her allergies though I know Nuts isn't usually one of them unfortunately.

My Daughter also has the tree nut allergies and even though she is not allergic to the peanut of all things if it peanut butter is processed in a plant with the other nuts she is allergic too then she can't have it.

  2. Not sure how different this is, but my daughter likes to take sliced up hard cheese and crackers, and make her own "cracker sandwiches".  You could also include cherry tomatoes or lettuce to go on them.  Also, I like to slip a note in every once in a while, or a joke.

  3. Dont know how old she is but you can try: Pasta salads, fresh veggies and fruits, quesadillas, turkey and cheese wraps, chicken salad pitas, mini coissant sandwiches with ham and cheese, bagels and smear, add you can do foods like that that are allergy friendly for her nut and soy and seed allergies. They also may look cute in a bento box, good luck. Try wholefoods.com they have a great kids recipe section and also allergy help, good luck~

ETA: I dont care if I loose points for editing, but the first poster needs to shut up, I understand the allergy issue, wish you the best as I know it can be threatening, dont feel like you have to defend yourself to anyone, they are ignorant, good luck and take care~

  4. we use to put peanut butter ( idk if she is allergic to that because of the nut allergy, i'm not real familiar with that) but anyway pb on celery and then add raisins and call it ants on a log.  i use to love that snack!  my daughter is 5 and just started kindergarten so i am looking for some new lunch ideas as well!    :)

  5. one fun thing we used to do in school was pack a thermos filled halfway up with milk, a ziplock with cereal, a plastic spoon and enjoy cereal for lunch =]

i'm not sure if that's what you're looking for, but it's certainly different.

  6. My daughter is going to start grade 1 next week and she is anaphalyix to peanuts/treenuts.   We have drilled it into her to never eat anything without mommy & daddy checking it first, I only pray that all parents will be more aware of the what they are putting into their child's lunch boxes.  So I understand your concern.

I saw a great lunch idea, basically it is a ham/cheese/tomato/cucumber sandwich.   You make the sandwich and cut it into quarters and then you put all the items in their own section of the lunch box - find a lunch box that has sections to it. Basically, they are getting a sandwich but it makes it more fun for them to eat things separately.   If you are able to, make the lunches with your daughter the night before so she feels like she made her own lunch and will be then more interested in eating it.

    Good luck!

  7. she sounds demanding lol

....edit....OMG take a chill pill hunny.... i said that because  you wrote.."Also she would like things packed like a bento box"...food tastes just as good in a paper or plastic baggie. I was not in anyway referring to her allergies.

  8. this is fun...

I give my children there favourite on a stick

I buy at dollar store funny long toothpicks or so and put there favourite on it.

There favourite is cheese sausage cucumber fruit and put some variation per day with pickles and ham or so.

there is always a fight over it at school.

    good luck
