  1. call your DHS

  2. Take the advice of happymom, she knows what she's talking about. You'll get and find more information by doing that, than on Yahoo.

  3. Try the website  www.surromomsonline.com they help with surrogacy,adoption,sperm/egg donation and alot more, free of charge.

  4. Call your local DHS.  Adopting through foster care is always the best route, and if you're looking into siblings, that's DEFINITELY the way to go.  Lots of kids there need homes.  We actually started our adoption process by calling an agency, but I'd advise you to go through DHS.  We've been waiting a long time, and the whole reason we went through an agency was because we thought it would be faster.  It's not.  I think it helps for the caseworkers to actually know you.  However, you can pay for an agency to do your homestudy to get that done faster, since DHS has about 10 times as many homestudies to complete, on a shoestring budget.  Good luck!  Feel free to email me.

  5. you can look online or the telephone book for an adoption agency. Or you can call your county social services and inquire about foster care/adoption. The agency would be the most expensive way.

  6. Research, research, research!

There are many options in adoption, so finding an adoption counselor that can help outline all of them for you is a good start.

If you are at all considering international adoption, get the book "How to Adopt Internationally."  They revise it every couple of years, so be sure you get the most recent edition. I would also recommend Adoptive Families magazine.

International adoption also has many sibling groups that need homes.  The agency we used to adopt our two children will not separate sibling groups.

    Good luck!

  7. Check out your local area for any adoption information meetings or support groups where you will have contact with other adoptive parents in you area.

Remember that from the start to placement no matter how you adopt it takes longer then you would like it to...

Adoption of children from Foster Care starts with your local Children's services office most states do have internet sites about their process and contact information.
