In 3 years if i qualified to be a midwife, I would be on 20k a year and my partner in his job would be on 30k but we both would like to get married, buy a house, have 2 children and live a comfy lifestyle (not struggling)

18-21 yrs old - training to be a midwife

21-23 yrs old - purchase a property & get married

23 & 25 yrs old - have children

Would this be possible on those salaries or should i look into higher paid jobs?

(Remember taxes, bills, food etc etc etc would be taking off that money.)

It's so scary...I don't know how people cope who haven't had higher education.

  1. RELAX....

a job like midwifery needs to be done by someone who really would like to do that sort of job. Go with what you want to do and the money will come the betteryou get at it. If you go around looknig for high paid jobs chances are youll end up in something that will make you unhappy. nothing worse than getting up everyday and being miserable.

Things will happen for you when they happen. Just chill out do what you love and deal with what lifes throws at you when it happens.

Itll be all gravey !! :P

  2. It depends how you spared the cost and also the economy at that time. I was on 12k and my husband was not working but I got a property 2 years and now I'm earning much more and over 5k savings its all to do with yourself everything is possible but you have to have the courage and want to do it. but I would recommend don't get married in such young age I was 20 and I'm happy i gauss but I would of loved to marry at the age of 25-26 minimum. but again this is vary to different thinkers so no one could really answer you correctly. I could only say I did it with half of that money.

Also I would recommend you to go after the job you like because if you don't you would re grated for the rest of your life you work to be happy and have an easy life you don't go to work to do things you don't like and be in mental pain

  3. a good midwife is a gift. just think of the job satisfaction.material worlds lead to you wanting more .you need to re-evaluate yourself, is money the meaning of life. Im going to be earning a good wage  when i qualify, but im not in it for that, i just want to help people, thats enough for me.

  4. To quote a song, 50k a year will buy a lot of beer. I think you have answered this yourself by saying you would 'love' to be a midwife. Go for it you have to enjoy what you do, and try not to be scared, its the best time of your life.

  5. Also remember that key public sector staff, such as NHS midwives, are able to access schemes for cheaper housing, specifically designed to help compensate for potentially lower salaries in high property price zones.

  6. 20K? what country? if it's US dollars, then it is way too low, if it's UK Pounds, go for it.

    £20,000+£30,000 = decent life.

You won't be able to buy a house by the age of 23, but you could always get a mortgage and then get a house.  You should be able to live a good lifestyle, not great, no ferraris, mansions, boats and things, but you should be okay with getting a house, a car and raising 2 kids.
