They don't need people who have good hearts and want to help -- they need people with real, tangible skills who are qualified to help in various situations. This includes being able to work in at least one other language than English.

  2. It depends...there are many aid projects that accept volunteers for a few week to months where you can participate in their projects. If you want to make Aid work a career then you need to study development at a university level which will put you in a position to apply for paid work in the aid field. best thing to do is check out the websites of organisations such as Oxfam, Goal & Save the Children get in touch with them & ask about volunteering overseas.
