I always wanted to get into mystery shopping, But I always heard most of the companies were scams. I tried one and I couldn't get past the first hurdle of sending in numerous applications to tons of companies within that, and none of them responded. If there are any mystery shoppers out there, can you give advice on companies or some motivation for someone who wants to get into it?

  1. They are all scams. I have worked in the corporate environment for years, from Kmart to Pizza Hut. All the companies I worked for have there own internal shoppers. We never pay an outside source to do internal reviews, that's just ridiculous.

Most of the "shoppers" would call with questions and grade the person answering the phone on politeness, knowledge, and over all attitude.

The closest thing to a "shopper" we had was people who came in and would walk around the store, looking at how clean it is, asking questions of the staff to see their attitude and knowledge, as well as how easy it is to find help inside the store. Never did they buy products, why would they?

Why would a company spend millions of dollars buying there own products to review customer service?

The entire Mystery Shopper thing is a scam, trust me.
