  1. Is it a box turtle?

  2. sounds like a snapping turtle...and yes, as they get older, they get more aggressive, i'd let him stay at the creek...better off for you both

    Compass turtle?

  4. It is a snapping turtle on one sort or another, to be sure. Very, very few turtles have spiky shells, and I think snapping turtles are the only such turtles in North America.

Be careful about keeping it- some states (my own, for example) have laws against keeping animals captured in the wild in the state.

  5. it's an alligator snapping turtle.  Get rid of it...If it bites you, you won't be able to get it to let go of you.  They are dangerous!

  6. all the spikes sounds like a snapper. I have one aqnd he (Dragon) is very calm but when in water he wants to bite me. if you plan on keepin g it watch your fingers.

  7. I think it is a little odd if you are asking this question after a year of keeping him. But whatever. This sounds like one out of two. It either sounds like an alligator snapping turtle. You can most certainly tell if its one of these (killers) if when it opens its mouth it have a worm like thing attached underneath its tongue. If you do not see something of .

that sort it just seems like a normal old snapping turtle, in that case it still may be quite dangerous but sometimes the become demosticated enough to know not to eat your thumb. Never the less I hope i helped.
