I would love to take part in the IPL – Michael Clarke
Michael Clarke, the T20 captain of Australia, said that he might turn to the lucrative Indian Premier League to improve the game. The Aussie, though, opined that he would join the Indian T20 extravaganza only if his body allowed him to do
so. Earlier, Clarke had decided to stay away from the IPL so that he could spend more time with his family.
"It's important for me to play as much Twenty20 cricket as I can but I've also got to sum up my body and my life when it comes to choosing between having that six weeks at home for a break or going to play IPL," said Clarke while talking
to an Australian newspaper.
Clarke did add that if his body felt comfortable in playing the six-week tournament only then he will put himself in the auction for the IPL4. The Australian vice captain, at the same time, was concerned about his Test and one-day cricket
for the Kangaroos.
“But I've also got Test cricket and one-day cricket for Australia to think about, our schedule is very busy. If I felt like my body couldn't handle another six weeks of IPL, I wouldn't play it.”
Having his eye on the next ICC T20 World Championship, the T20 captain of Australia said that he will want to play more T20 cricket near the next T20 World Cup.
Clarke acknowledged that the Indian Premier League (IPL) has played a major role in developing skills of many players in the shortest format of the game and he would love to participate in the league whenever he gets time. "I would love,
no doubt, to take part in the IPL," said Clarke. "It's just a matter of when I might be able to play it."
Clarke, who was Australia’s stand-in captain in its recent One-day series against India, had also warned the Australian players ahead of the third ODI in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Goa-c786 to get ready to face the axe ahead of the upcoming home Ashes against England.
He said that it would be about picking the best 11 players for the crucial Ashes series, and conditions change as well, “and I think we're in a great position with the amount of people who are in good nick around the country, to pick that best 11," said Clarke.
He said that the craze of Australian’s to make the Ashes is still high regardless of their Test experience. “I still think it is a stage you want to be put on whether it's your first Test or your 60th, you want to be part of the Ashes, you
want to get that opportunity.”
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Clarke-c51120 has asked the Australian players who have not yet made their Test debuts to try their best to score as many runs and claim as many scalps as they can to push themselves for selection. He also said that the players who are in the Test
team at the moment need to be at the top otherwise someone else will be taking their spot.
"There's always competition for spots, and I've openly said that you're never cemented in the Australian cricket team. It is important for all of us once we get back to Australia, to be performing, to have runs or wickets on the board, to
put your hand up for the first Test," said Michael Clarke.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750. They lost the Test series by 2-0 while the only ODI of the three-match series
was also won by Dhoni’s men – the other two being washed out.
