I would love to wear contact lenses instead of glasses, but my eye doctor said no and didn't give me a reason. Here is my story. When I was 2 I had surgery in both eyes to correct my eyes being crossed. I have scars on the eye muscle from the surgery. At least that is what I would think because they ajusted the position of the muscle to correct it. Anyway, I was told that my nerves were tilted. I was researching on rigid gas permeable contact lenses and I think they would be good for me since they can be specifically shpaed to your eyes. Should I go to another eye doctor because I think that is so unfair. I know people who are 13 who have contact lenses and I am 23. Also, I found out that the RGP lenses require less care and can last for two years. My vision is 20/400 without glasses. Any ideas on how much they would cost me. Are they covered by insurance? I really need your help. Please! Thank you in advance. =)

  1. Call your eye doctor and ask him/her why you can't wear contacts.

  2. if he doesn't give an explanation then he's another idiot who tries to exercise power upon you, seek another

  3. Just ask your doctor what his reason is.  I've been having terrible eye problems from contacts, they just aren't for everyone.  Age doesn't matter.  I got my first pair at age 9 and didn't have trouble until I was 31.

I think something in your history is contraindicating your use of contacts.  He should have explained it better.  Go ahead and seek a second opinion, but find out the reasoning for the first opinion before you do.  He should have explained that to you.
