I would love to work on a cruise ship but i dont know how to apply can you help?

my dream is to work on a cruise ship but i have done endless searchs and it is just really confusing has any worked on a cruise ship before that can give me some tips of where to start and what the best companys are?

NCL America has an ad posted on Careerbuilders.com right now.  These ships are based in Hawaii and sail the Hawaiian Islands.

Unlike all the other cruise lines, NCL America is subject to US employment rules and regulations, including minimum wage requirements.

You have two options. Go to each cruise lines web site and click on Human Resources/Employment/Jobs or whatever link they show for employment. The links will lead you to their home offices and some will display current employment opportunities.

I have never worked on a cruise ship but I have learned from talking with staff members on ship that they must sign a contract for a period of six to nine months work.  That means you work seven days a week during that period and then you get 60 to 90 days off.  Then you can renew your contract for another six or nine months.  Staff members work varying hours and many time split shifts.  They also general have more than one task on ship.  Staff members sometimes get time off during a port stop and can go ashore and shop or relax; but its not a given for each port.

If you don't mind travelling to Australia, I recommend starting with P&O Australia (the company will pay for your flights!). I haven't worked for other lines, but I have friends who have, and it sounds like P&O is just easier to start your cruising career with. I did twelve months with them, am now having a break but will head back before the end of the year.

My contracts always said "up to six months" - I did 5 months at sea, then 4 months, then 2 months, with 2 weeks off between each contract. It depends on how soon the company needs you back.

Check out pocruises.com.au and go to "Jobs@sea" - you can email your resume straight through to them. I would also recommend carnival.com and princess.com; look for the "Jobs" or "Careers" section - I haven't worked for these companies, but they're big well-known cruise lines.
