I kinda like the Gold Standard gimmick. I wish he got more face time that he does. And had better opportunities to try to get himself over with the crowd... There is the problem of him being an apparent "not-evil-enough" heel, though.

  11. No not at all, I have been aware of his potential since his early days in OVW. I am glad that he is getting a push!

  12. I wouldn't say I'd have a problem with it, I just don't think he's a world champion caliber entertainer.  I'm not questioning his ability, because there's no doubt that he's a talented and agile young man, but his mic work stinks to high heavens, and, like it or not, you have to have SOME form of mic charisma or likability about you in order to get over as a champ.  I don't see anything that makes Benjamin look legitimate enough to be on that level.  I'm not saying that you have to be Ric Flair on the mic to be champion, I'm just saying you have to be over in some way with the audience to get their attention enough to like you.  While Shelton can put on a five star match if given the chance, it's not something he can do on a nightly basis, and not because he's incapable, but because of time restraints and the inevitable factor of stamina and health from doing this night in and night out.

WWE has tried to push him before.  Triple H took 3 clean falls to the guy within a month's time, and that he didn't get the reaction or reception the WWE wanted, at least not long-term.  Shelton just isn't a world champion.  He doesn't have a look that people can relate to or admire, he doesn't have a move that makes the audience go "oh" and "ah", and he doesn't have the mic work to back up a title reign.

I'm not saying that Shelton's the only person in this match unfit to hold the world title.  There are others in there that are more charismatic and just as talented who I couldn't see holding the strap for quite some time, if ever, either do to size restraints or time in the company, and while Shelton has an edge on both men as far as company loyalty and physique and height goes, he doesn't have the mic skills of a Brian Kendrick, or the unique style or charisma in the ring, like MVP.  Whereas you have someone like Jeff Hardy who the fans latch on to because they relate to his style, empathize his situation, and marvel at his high spot style.

Let's be honest, the world of wrestling doesn't revolve around mat savvy anymore.  If it did, Lance Storm and Dean Malenko would be running company instead of sitting at home retired and complaining on the internet.

  13. I wouldn't mind as well. But seeing his "gold standard" character and all...-_-

If it would make him more of a competitor than a braggart then I'd agree

  14. He is not ready yet, Shelton has not been in that many solid rivalries. I think he is a great upper mid carter, and should feud with The Brian Kendrick or even Evan Bourne.

  15. I'm not a fan of the gimmick, but I would love to see Shelton as World Champ.  The fact that he's getting a World title shot is enough alone for me to buy Unforgiven.

  16. It would actually be not that entertaining.  I mean he barely gets cheered being U.S. Champion.  He needs to work on his charisma more.  He has good moves, but the gold standard isn't that good of a gimmick.

  17. I wouldn't mind him, I would rather have MVP or Jeff, and he needs to get better on the mic.

I think he would be good as champion, but I don't think it is his time yet. I know that he has been in WWE for a little bit, but no one thinks of him as a main eventer, I don't think Vince would have Shelton as champion.

  18. If anybody in the mid-card was going to get it it should be Shelton. This guy is one of the most if not the most underrated wrestler on the wwe roster. IMO
