The Spaniard has emphasized that he is keen on watching his side take on teams from the Spanish Primera as more competition is always welcomed.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 head coach, Tito Vilanova, has expressed that he would rather play a team from the Liga BBVA instead of the Spanish Segunda Division.
La Blaugrana were drawn to face Cordoba in their next match in the knock-out stages of the Copa del Rey. Cordoba are currently playing in the second tier of Spanish football and are considered minnows as compared to the Catalan giants.
Barca’s previous opponents in the Copa were Alaves, another Segunda Division team that were not unable to compete against the majesty of the current FIFA Club World Cup champions.
Vilanova has stressed that he wants his players to have more competition, suggesting that the current tie is not likely to be a close encounter.
Experts have also tipped La Azulgrana to comfortably emerge victorious from the fixture.
Cordoba, however, are interesting opponents as they have made quite an impact over the Copa del Rey. In the previous round, they managed to knock out Real Sociedad despite being underdogs. They managed to impress with their quality of football and are likely
to complicate things for the Catalans.
Nevertheless, Vilanova has decided to voice that he would have preferred to face a team from the Spanish Primera.
While attending a press conference, the mentor was quoted as saying:
"I would say that it is increasingly difficult and that it is a complicated tie. I would rather play against a top team,"
"They are not just words, it is how I feel about the match, and I would have preferred to play a Primera Liga team. Cordoba eliminated Real Sociedad and played good football.
"I am fortunate that my players love to play football. I have asked them and they are all ready."
Barcelona are currently the defending champions in the Copa del Rey. Last season they eliminated Real Madrid at the quarter-final stage of the competition. In addition, they were able to put an excellent performance in the final as they defeated Athletic
Bilbao.
