Contact your local red cross, homeless shelters, cancer and hearth associations. Also check in the local civil pages of your phone book, there is usually a list of organisations there that are helping local people in your area. But if its only youths with drug and alcohol problems try the local chapter of AA and drug rehab centers.

Why not look on your local council website? Also, get in touch with your local police station or housing centres? They will point you in the right direction for this. Good luck with it. :-)

Perhaps a local treatment center would be a good place to start...sometimes they invite folks in to share their experience, strength and hope with the residents...they may have other service opportunities available as well; giving residents rides to meetings, appointments, church etc...

Look online at your local Drug And Alcohol Team website - all counties have them - eg Merseyside DAAT - (type DAAT in your search) they are responsible for strategies for drugs and alcohol misusers in the area and will have information and links to those specific organisations and charities that work in the field you wish to volunteer in. They will also be able to advise on careers if you wish to do this more permanently.
