  1. Chile (also chili) is a mexican word for hot chilli pepper. I doesn't have anything to do with Chile the country. In fact, in most other Latin american countries (including Chile), chili peppers  are called "AJI".

Once I've cleared that point, I'll answer your question.

Chile not only afects your taste glandules. It's so strongly irritating to your touch also. When you chop chile and then touch with your fingers your nose, you will feel an aching sensation that will last for an hour or so. Sniffing it would increase the pain and make you cry worst than onion.

I've heard once of a local woman here in Peru, when fighting with her husband's lover, wiped a fresh Red Hot Chili Pepper the size of a tomato (ROCOTO) all over her face. They say the woman had to go to a clinic.

Some say they're healthy, but in countries like Peru and Mexico where people eat a lot of chili. the main cause of death by cancer is "gastronomic cancer". Putting Chili on everything only shows that you lack of taste for gourmet meals and turn everything into a Taco. So I use it but only on few meals.

  2. Yes it does, I highly recommend you try it. It has no adverse health effects.

  3. no it doesn't make you high - unlike the Simpsons episode

"Don't Quit your day job - whatever that is"

And no it's not bad for your health

In fact Chilli is very very very good for your health
