IBF world champion Sebastian Andres Lujan knocks out Mark Melligen – Boxing news
IBF world champion Lujan won a nine-round knockout decision against Filipino Welterweight Mark Jason Melligen in their 10-round bout on Friday, July 1, 2011 at the Freeman Coliseum in San Antonio, Texas.
Melligen appeared to be struggling against Lujan. The professional Middleweight/ Welterweight contender of Argentina, Sebastian Andres Lujan dropped the 25-year-old, Southpaw stance Melligen to the floor four times during their brutal competition.
Melligen went down to the floor in round six for the first time, for the second time in round seven and in round eight for the third time. The time was 0:45 of the ninth round when the 31-year-old, Orthodox stance Lujan delivered a finishing number four
knockout punch to mark his victory.
Lujan already has 24 knockout victories in his professional boxing career. On the other hand, Mark ‘Mighty’ Melligen fought 24 of his total fights of which he has won 21 bouts against the world’s best boxers with 14 knockout victories and three losses in
his professional boxing career.
The number sixth WBC world champion, Sebastian Lujan won his 12th consecutive fight against Mark Jason Melligen. Mark ‘MJM Grand’ Melligen faced the third professional loss of his career after winning five consecutive fights.
WBA world champion, Lujan turned professional winning a second round knockout decision against Luis Antonio Ojeda at the Club Sportivo Municipal in Argentina in 2001.
Sebastian ‘Pimienta’ Lujan claimed his first championship bout winning seventh round knockout decision against Carlos Adan Jerez at the Estadio Republic de Venezuela in Argentina in 2003. After a couple of successful defences, Sebastian ‘Iron’ Lujan won
the WBO Intercontinental Welterweight title against Paolo Roberto at the Baltic Hall in Mariehamn, Finland in 2003.
Lujan should try to keep this winning momentum going for the rest of his challenges. Hopefully, his next fight will be more interesting and entertaining one to watch.
