ICC Africa Region Division One Twenty20 Series starts off today: Cricket News Update
The International Cricket Council (ICC) Africa Region Division One Twenty20 (T20) Series is scheduled to kick off on Saturday, July 09, 2011 at Kampala in Uganda. The competition comes as part of final division of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625’s T20 World Cricket League.
The recent Division One competition took place between the East Asia Pacific nations, featuring 5 members. These included Papua New Guinea, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Japan-c2928.
The event kicked off on July 4, 2011 and came to a http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Papua-New-Guinea-c41002, who maintained an undefeatable winning streak throughout the competition.
As for the African Division, the limited overs tournament will be featuring 5 African nations namely, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Uganda-c3031.
The series is scheduled to be a 7-day event and will be staged at Kampala, Uganda between Kyambogo Cricket Ground and Lugogo Cricket Oval.
The fixtures involve a total of 22 games including the last two decisive games for the first to third position matches.
The first two days of the series will hold 4 T20 matches each, between all 5 participants. Two games will be held on July 11, while another 4 on the following two days and two on July 14. The tournament’s 3rd position match along with the final
will take place on July 15.    
As for the squads, each team will hold 14 members. The squad captains include http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Davis-Karashani-Arinaitwe-c53318 for Uganda.
The probable tournament favorites are likely to be Kenya due to their previous participation in World Championships. The side’s captain hopes to pull up his side together for securing a safe spot on the tournament.   
The tournament will be administered by the ICC and comes as an initiative to promote international cricket amongst affiliate and associate nations without Test cricket status. The qualifying team from the division may find a probable place in the ICC World
T20 Championship scheduled for the next year.
