ICC President Sharad Pawar terms ICC World Cup 2011 a huge success
President of the International Cricket Council Sharad Pawar has termed the ICC World Cup 2011 a huge success.
The mega event is in its last stage as two co-hosts India and Sri Lanka prepare to meet in the final of the tournament on Saturday at the Wankhede Stadium in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mumbai-c820, India.
As compared to the previous two editions of the showpiece event in 2003 and 2007, the current tournament has generated a lot more revenue for the ICC. On top of that, the tournament has remained incident free.

profit and a huge number of cricket fans lost their interest in the tournament after the initial round.
In order to make sure that the best teams qualify for the second round of the event, the ICC changed the format of the tournament which turned out to be a great move.
In Pawar’s opinion, the quality of cricket in the ongoing ICC World Cup 2011 has also been extremely commendable. There have been a number of close encounters in the World Cup which increased the interest of cricket fans.
Pawar said, “In all respects the ICC World Cup is a huge success; in terms of spectators, TV viewership, the quality of cricket played so far. In all three nations the World Cup has helped to improve infrastructure for the convenience of the spectators.”
The ICC President gave the credit to all the three host countries- India, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747 and said that this tournament would not have been a success without the help of the governments and the organisers of the event.
“Thanks to the World Cup hosts' excellent organization, the tournament has gone off well and has been incident free. All three host nations' Prime Ministers have attended one or two matches. Their support and the administration's support has been exceptional,”
the ICC President added.
