http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Alan-Raymond-Isaac-c42771, president of the International Cricket Council, offered his congratulations to the India Under-19s, following their recent ICC Under-19 World Cup triumph, in addition to praising runners-up, the Australia Under-19s, for having had an excellent
run throughout the competition.
“It has been an incredible performance by India. The way the team bounced back after losing the tournament opener reflects the talent and self-confidence of the side,” said Isaac. “And with captain Unmukt Chand leading the side from the front with a century
in the final, it just sums up three great weeks for them in Townsville.”
“Congratulations also to Will Bosisto's Australia side, which gave a very good account of itself throughout the tournament,” Isaac added. “It's just bad luck that the home side's unbeaten run in the tournament had to come to an end in the final.”
Despite having won both of their warm-up matches prior to the World Cup (against the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 U-19s during their
first WC match, at the Tony http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ireland-c751 Stadium in Townsville on August 12.
However, they managed to make a convincing comeback, and remained unbeaten throughout the remainder of the competition. After winning their next two Group C matches (against the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Papua-New-Guinea-c41002 U-19s), Chand’s side went on to defeat arch-rivals

The final, against the Australia U-19s on August 26, saw skipper Chand guiding the team home to a 6-wicket win, with a massive unbeaten century. The victory resulted in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 lifting the cup for the 3rd time in the history of the tournament (following
their victories in 2000 and 2008), which makes them the joint most successful U-19 World Cup team alongside http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746, who have also won the cup thrice (1988, 2002, 2010).
Defending champions, the Australia U-19 team, on the other hand, had enjoyed an unbeaten run throughout the initial stages of the tournament, but were unable to maintain the same momentum in the cup final, which saw them losing out on the chance to win the
competition for the fourth time in history.
