ICC Under-19 World Cup Qualifier, Ireland Under-19s v United States of America Under-19s at Dublin, Jul 28, 2011 – 26 Overs Update
The http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ireland-c751 U-19 teams.
The match was scheduled to commence at 10:45 local time at Clontarf Cricket Club Ground, Dublin. The Irish captain George Dockrell won the toss and elected to field first.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Cameron-Mirza-c49164 opened the batting innings for United States of America Under-19 team.
The team did not have a good start as Mirza returned to the pavilion at a duck in the 3rd over. He was caught out by Niall Hodgins at a fine delivery by Barry McCarthy.
Amarnauth Persaud was the next man in and together with Taylor; they added 63 runs to the team’s total in 2nd wicket partnership.
The combination of McCarthy and Hodgins turned out to be lucky for the Irish team as http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Taylor-c92915 experienced the same fate as Mirza.
The top-order batsman was caught out by Hodgins at McCarthy’s delivery and returned to the pavilion after contributing 24 runs off 55 deliveries.
USA’s Captain http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Gregory-Sewdial-c60818 came in at number 4 with huge responsibility at his shoulders. All eyes were on Sewdial but he could not stand before the Irish bowlers for long and got caught out. The bowler to strike again was McCarthy who earned 3rd
wicket by dismissing Sewdial and left USA at 77 runs for the loss of 3 wickets in the 23rd over.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Barry-McCarthy-c47383 was the most successful bowler so far and had 3 big wickets to his credit so far.  Irish bowlers brightened the chances of Ireland’s success whereas USA badly needed a scoring partnership.
Wicket-keeper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/George-Dockrell-c59135.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pranay-Suri-c82502 and Persaud were the 2 batsmen standing at the crease and score as many runs as possible without losing a wicket.
Their plan was put to an end by McCarthy who gave his team another breakthrough by sending the 2nd highest scorer back to the pavilion.
Persaud left at the score of 24 runs off 55 deliveries. USA was then at a total of 82 runs for the loss of 5 wickets.
The batting line-up of the guest team had failed badly and after 26 overs, USA had only scored 84 runs after losing 5 wickets. Their run rate remained at 3.25 runs per over which was not the kind of display expected by this team.
The Irish bowlers had bowled exceptionally well so far but had given away many 26 extra runs which they need to be careful about.
