Canada Under-19s beat Unites States of America Under-19s by 5 wickets in a 50-over game of the ICC Under-19 World Cup Qualifier tournament yesterday, August 7, 2011, at Bready Cricket Club No 2 Ground, Magheramason.
The Canadians won the game convincingly with their excellent all-round performances and the Americans lost as usual, due to their poor batting display.
Winning the toss, the USA U-19s elected to bat first. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Cameron-Mirza-c49164 opened the innings for their side.
The start was poor, as http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Taylor-c92915 fell on the last ball of the third over after scoring just 10 runs. Mirza followed the same route and lost his wicket for just 8 runs in the 5th over of the innings.
The next three top order batsmen also failed to defend the destructive bowling attack of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Gregory-Sewdial-c60818 and Amarnauth Persaud made 2 and 7 respectively.
The middle-order was unimpressive and off-coloured too as http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Salman-c88163 Ahmad also fell after collective just 13 runs.

Thus, the entire team of USA U-19s was washed out in 40.3 overs for a meager total of 101 runs. Their run rate was 2.49 per over.
In the bowling department of Canada, Manny Aulakh was the hero of the day as he took 6 wickets for just 32 runs, followed by Jobanjot Singh, who bowled 2 players. Among others, Rayyan Pathan and Akash Shah grabbed 1 wicket each.
Canada U-19s took a convincing start to chase down the target of 102 runs. Shah and Pathan opened the innings and forged a partnership of 26 runs before Shah got run out for 2.
The one-down batsman, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Nitish-Kumar-c79751, fell on duck in the 8th over, followed by Pathan who lost his wicket in the 10th over after lashing match-winning 42 runs off 29 balls with the help of 2 fours and five sterling sixes.
