http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Vanuatu-c3038 batsmen took on some sluggish batting earning a disappointing total of minor 49 runs with the close of the 25th over after losing 4 wickets. The match against the Namibian under-19 side came as the 8th fixture of the ICC Under-19
World Cup Qualifier and was being staged at the YMCA Cricket Club, Dublin, on Friday, 29 July 2011.
The bout took to the field after Vanuatu skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Patrick-Kaltaneaki-Matautaava-c80908 won the toss and chose to bat with opening pair Jaxies Samuel and Callum Blake.
With the Namibian bowling attack, featuring Andre Engelbrecht and Tangeni Lungameni, kicking off the bowling session, the batting pair took off with a slow start adding occasional singles during the opening overs of the innings.
Managing to hold on to their stumps the pair finally reached the 10th over with just 14 runs on the scoreboard.
However, the batting side’s first loss came in the 14th over after Namibian pacer Christopher Coombe managed to bring an end to the lingering partnership after securing Samuel’s stumps.
Opener Blake was then joined in by one down batsman Kendy Kenneth. The pair, however, failed to retain their partnership after Blake too made a quick return in the 16th over.
Following the quick two losses, the crease was then taken over by Kenneth and next in line batsman Ronald Tari.
The batsmen, once again, carried on with the lethargic innings contributing just a single from their partnership.
However, in another blow from the Namibian bowlers, Coombe managed to bring an end to the pair’s misery after securing Kenneth’s stumps.
Once again, the Vanuatu player was caught out by fielder Merwe Erasmus off Coombe’s delivery. Kenneth made his return after scoring a disappointing total of 3 runs off 12 deliveries.
More trouble came the batting side’s way after Tari too made his exit in the following over. The batsman was bowled out off Stephen Baard’s delivery after adding a minor single to the total.
With Nalin Nipiko and skipper Matautaava taking on the remaining innings, the pair went on till the 25th over scoring a disappointing aggregate of 49 runs after losing a total of 4 wickets.
