Virender Sehwag, the destructive Indian opening batsman, is of the view that the forthcoming ICC Under-19 World Cup 2012 provides a great opportunity to the young players to prove their credentials.
The junior mega event is going to be played in Australia later this month, where the home team will look to defend its title. India has won the tournament twice - in 2000 and 2008, under the leadership of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/V-Kohli-c2737 respectively.
The next ICC Cricket World Cup, to be played in 2015, is also scheduled to be held in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754. Sehwag, 33, believes that the budding youngsters can make their way to international cricket by doing well in the upcoming tournament.
The right-handed opener hopes that India will find some brilliant players through this tournament, who can serve the country in the long run.
"I think whoever plays well in the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750," Sehwag said.
The Delhi-born cricketer further added that the teenagers will learn a lot through such an illustrious tournament, being exposed to foreign conditions against the best youngsters from all across the globe.
Indian batsmen are usually more comfortable playing in the sub-continent and Sehwag thinks that the budding cricketers can enhance their game, playing on Australian tracks, which offer additional bounce to the fast bowlers.
"The players have a great opportunity to go out there, play with and against the best and perform well. They will be motivated and will get a lot of self-confidence. The players will also make a lot of friends for life during the tournament," he added.
India Under-19s skipper, Unmukt Chand, represented http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Delhi-c780 Daredevils in the fifth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), which was lead by Sehwag.
Historically, a number of great Indian players have come through the ranks of junior cricket. The latest being Kohli, the young right-handed batsman, who is considered to be the new batting sensation of the cricketing world, having scored 13 ODI hundreds
in merely 89 encounters.
