http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Guernsey-c40999 vs. Argentina:
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Argentina-c2841 faced a fourth consecutive defeat as they fell short by 29 runs against Guernsey in a rain-affected game at Padang.
With the match being reduced to a 42-over affair, Guernsey struggled in the beginning after they were put into bat, with Argentine opening bowlers picking up early breakthroughs to reduce their opponents at 53 for 4.
However, all changed when Ross Kneller arrived to the crease, where the player powered his way to an explosive 86 off 64 balls, which included six mammoth strikes. His knock guided the team to post a reasonable 213 for 7 on the board.
The match however, was further reduced to 29 overs before Argentina could start their run chase. The batting side now needed 163 to win but lost three early wickets, which dented their charge. Opener Grant Dugmore hung around for a well made 42 but the lower
order buckled under pressure to fold on a disappointing 133 for 9.
David Hooper was the pick of the Guernsey bowlers with 3 scalps. Kneller, for his excellent knock was deservedly named the Player of the Match.
Cayman Islands vs. Bahrain:
In the other match of the day, Cayman Islands cruised to an 8-wicket win over http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bahrain-c2847 in yet another rain-hit match at Indian Association Ground.
Sent into bat, Bahrain faltered at 16 for 3 before the middle-order batsman, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Tahir-Dar-c92592, whose unbeaten 60 off 50 balls, which included six sixes, took the score
to a decent 208.
In reply, the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Cayman-Islands-c2867 were 50 for 1 in the 17th over before rain again intervened to halt the proceedings. Under the Duckworth-Lewis method, Caymanians now required 30 from four overs after the match was compressed into a 21-over per side.
They completed the required scenario with three balls to spare, with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ramon-Anthony-Sealy-c83888 (15) remaining not out.
Despite ending up on the losing team, Tahir Dar was awarded with the Player of the Match trophy for his flamboyant knock.
Singapore vs. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Malaysia-c2949:
Table http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Singapore-c3005 by 27 runs at Kallang Ground.
Malaysia’s opening pair, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohammad-Shafiq-Sharif-c77311 (48) and Rakesh Madhavan (77*) gave their team an impressive, 77-run start before a batting collapse saw them being restricted on a meagre 184. Apart from the openers, no other player could add a substantial knock with
the next highest being 13.
Despite the poor batting performance, it was the Malaysian bowlers, who took control of the game. The host found themselves in trouble at 117 for 5 in 30 overs before rain interfered at this crucial stage. Singapore was set a revised total of 161 from 39
overs however; their remaining batters failed miserably and the home side eventually stumbled on 133 in 35.5.
Player of the match award, predictably, went to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Rakesh-Madhavan-c83672 for his excellent unbeaten knock.
