Both the partners scored half centuries, with Andy’s fifty full of boundaries, while Nic’s patient 120-ball 70 consisted of singles and doubles exclusively. The partnership was worth 77 when Ryan Bovell broke it in the 16th over having the fluent opener Andy Northcote caught by Kervin Ebanks. Andy scored 54 runs from 57 balls plundering six lofty boundaries. That became 89 for 3 when Andy was followed back by Peter Petricola an over later after scoring 2 off 4.
Nic Northcote and Damian Crowley shared a partnership of 38 runs for the fourth wicket stand taking the side to 126 for 3 from 89 for 3. Crowley squandered his wicket carelessly in the 29th over when he was beaten on Pearson Best’s throw while taking a needles and careless run. Crowley earned Italy 22 runs from 36 balls including a boundary as well. After Crowley’s dismissal, Damian Fernando joined cool Nic Northcote at the crease. A sixth wicket partnership between skipper, Alessandro Bonora, and, Nic Northcote, earned Italy 25 more runs. The skipper was bowled by Ryan Bovell in the 43rd over leaving Italy 181 for 6 on the board. Bonora scored 15 runs after facing 27 balls. Nic Northcote shared a 34 runs partnership with Michael Raso before he was trapped lbw by Conroy Wright in the 48th over.
