ICC World Cricket League Division Four: Italy manages massive 167-run win over http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Tanzania-c3019
Tanzania suffered their worst defeat of the ICC World Cricket League Division Four as a clinical bowling performance from Italy consigned them their massive 167-run defeat at Navile. In a match played at the Centro Sportivo Dozza on Friday, while chasing Italy’s competitive total of 259 for seven, the Tanzanians were rolled over for just 92 runs in 27 overs. An all-round performance from Peter Petricola was the difference between the two sides.
A combined effort of Petricola and Hayden Patrizi took Italy to an imposing 50-overs total of 259 for seven that was well respected by the bowling department as Italy registered its fourth consecutive success of the league after having played five games. Petricola’s 89 off 100 balls well supported by the 33-ball 49 of Patrizi was the key factor behind Italy’s massive win. Tanzania’s Khalil Rehmtullah claimed two wickets while Kassim Nassoro – who claimed match-winning four wickets against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Benson-Mwita-c47753 and Ally Kimote also took one wicket each.
Earlier, the Italian Captain http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Alessandro-Bonora-c43102 had decided to bat first after winning the toss. The start of Italy’s innings was quite wobbly, losing both the openers; skipper Bonora and Andy Northcote, at the score of 30. The first wicket of Italy fell in the seventh over with 30 on the board when Bonora departed spooning an easy catch to Seif Khalifa at mid-on off Rehmtullah. Bonora earned Italy only 8 runs from 26 balls including a boundary. The score became 30 for 2 when Andy followed Bonora after being bowled out by Mawita on the first ball of the next over. Andy’s 16-ball 18 contained two boundaries as well.
Nick Northcote and Petricola then stabilized Italy with a half-century stand. A flurry of boundaries from the pair calmed the tense Italian nerves. Their partnership was worth 56 when Nick squandered his wicket needlessly. He, after, hitting the ball towards the leg side found a gap between midwicket and deep square fielder and even after taking an easy single pushed for the second as Petricola Stuttered but Nassoro’s throw was hard and flat, straight into the gloves of keeper. Nick’s dive went into vein as Kikasi had already taken the stumps off. He scored 29 runs off 59 balls plundering three muscular boundaries.
Nick’s dismissal brought Damian Crowley to the crease and in partnership with Petricola, the pair played sweetly-timed shots to drag the side towards a competitive score. Both took the score from 86 for 3 to 166 for 3. Their partnership was worth 81 when Rehmtullah broke it in the 39th over claiming Crowley’s wicket. Crowley tried to pull a big sweep of Rehmtullah’s slow delivery but could get only thin edge right into the gloves of keeper. His 52-ball 38 contained two lofty sixes. Petricola’s half century and Patrizi’s pugnacious 49 off 33 helped Italy get past 250. On the other hand, Tanzania’s run chase got off to a bad start as its whole cast, except Nassoro, floundered against Fernando and Petricola. Nassoro scored 34 runs off 39 balls but his effort was ruined by the capitulation of rest of the cast. Only http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Enjo-Kiongozi-c56016 and Mwita managed to get past the single-digits, while rest of the Tanzanian batsmen fell without entering the double figures. Fernando and Petricola claimed four scalps apiece.
