ICC World Cricket League East Asia-Pacific Region Division One: http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Papua-New-Guinea-c41002 v Samoa - Match Recap
Papua New Guinea, in their second match of the day, thrashed Samoa by a convincing margin of 77 runs in the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 World Cricket League East Asia-Pacific Region Division One T20, played at Port Moresby, on July 4, 2011.
Again it was the two openers New Guinea, Asad Vala and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Tony-Pala-Ura-c94235, who came good and provided a rollicking start that led to a easy victory over their opponents.
It was New Guinea’s captain, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Rarva-Dikana-c84041, who won the toss and was led to make an easy decision of batting first.
The openers truly obliged, with both Vala and Ura again laying the platform for their side and sharing a first wicket stand of 112.
The first to go was Ura, who after playing a sublime knock of 69 off just 37 balls, was well caught by Faavae Faaofo off the bowling of Sean Cotter. His innings, which included a mammoth eleven boundaries and a huge six, surely was a treat for the spectators.
After Ura’s wicket, it was Vala who took the centre stage and brought up a well deserved half century. When eventually Vala was bowled by Faasao Mulivai, he also got a standing ovation by the watching crowd. His innings of 65 off just 45 balls included seven
well struck boundaries.
At the end of New Guinea’s 20 overs, they had mounted a huge total of 182 for the loss of six wickets.
The Samao bowlers had no respite shown, especially by the New Guinea openers, and got clattered all around the park. The pick of the bowlers was Faasao Mulivai who claimed two scalps, giving away just 22 runs from his full quota of overs.
Another notable performance was from medium pacer Sean Cotter who also bagged two wickets.
Chasing New Guinea’s humongous target of 183, Samoa got off to the worst possible start when both the openers, Sean Cotter and Geoff http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Clarke-c51120 fell early, leaving the team reeling at 7-2.
From then onwards, the team could never recover as wickets fell at regular intervals.  Only two players could reach the double digit mark with F Faaofo and wicket keeper Uala Kaisara, who remained unbeaten, made scores of 16 and 29 respectively.
Samao eventually slumped to 105 for nine in their 20 overs, suffering an embarrassing defeat by 77 runs.
For New Guinea, all bowlers chipped in with wickets. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/John-Boge-Reva-c67425 and captain Rarva
