Winning the toss, Papua elected to bat first. Asad Vala and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Tony-Pala-Ura-c94235 opened the innings in a convincing way and forged a partnership of 43 runs, however, Ura contributed just 9 runs.
After the fall of Ura in the 6th over, Vala was joined by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Christopher-Ralai-Amini-c50975 who could also not play well and fell for just 3. Vala kept up the fireworks and compiled 40 runs off 30 balls with the help of 7 fours, before getting caught in the 10th over of the innings.
The top-order batsman, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mahuru-Douglas-Dai-c73905, came in to fill the gap of Vala with his excellent batting. He stayed on the crease by 18th over and lashed 61 runs from 33 deliveries. He hit 4 boundaries and 4 sixes.
The middle and lower batting orders of Papua failed badly as five of the batsmen could not make double figures. Only Vani Morea and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Jack-Vare-c65171 scored 14 and 11 respectively.
However, the hard hitting by Vala and Dai helped Papua New Guinea to reach 152 for 9 wickets at the end of the 20 overs. The innings included 11 extras.
