The hosts batted first and played exceptionally well, scoring a massive target for Japan. They ended up with 225 runs for the loss of just three wickets at the end of their allotted 20 overs.
PNG’s opening batsman, Asad Wala, was the star of the show for his side, as he scored 116 runs in his blistering innings. He was the top scorer of the match, as no one managed to come anywhere closer to his total.
In reply, the visitors were not able to make an impression in their outing. None of the batsmen managed to threaten the opposition and the team was restricted to 79/8 at the end of their 20 overs.

Vala and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Tony-Pala-Ura-c94235 gave a blistering start to their team, scoring 119 runs for the first wicket partnership in just 11 overs. The latter was the first man to be dismissed in the innings after collecting an impressive 53 runs from 29 balls with the help of
seven boundaries.
Vala continued to dominate the bowlers, smashing them to all parts of the park. He scored 116 runs off 59 balls, hammering 14 fours and five thunderous sixes in his outing. He got out in the 18th over of the innings, guiding his side into a dominant
position.
Dai played well in the death overs, scoring 19 runs off ten balls, smashing two sixes, guiding his side’s total to 225.

The Japanese team was unable to challenge the hosts, as they kept on losing wickets at regular intervals in their outing. Irie managed 19 runs at the top of the order, but got no support from his team-mates.
Fumihiko Uegaki collected 17 runs towards the end of the innings, but it was not sufficient to save Japan from a humiliating defeat in the end.
