The bout between Fiji and Samoa comes as the contest for securing 3rd place on the tournament. Papua New Guinea will be taking on Vanuatu later on Thursday in a battle to secure the first and second places on the series.
As for the ongoing match participants, both the teams have so far made two wins out of 4 matches while suffering two defeats each.
The Fiji team opened its innings after winning the toss and opting for the bat.

The innings kicked off with a fair start as the first three overs saw a fair burst of runs. However, the batting side’s first jolt came in the fourth over after Cotter exited the crease.
Cotter was caught out by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sekove-Ravoka-c89162 off Lomani’s delivery. The batsman played a tolerable innings of 14 runs after facing 15 balls. Cotter’s aggregate included two boundaries.
Right handed Benjamin Mailata then stepped in to take Cotter’s place.
The new pair engaged into a decent partnership that led the Samoan innings in the second quarter of the session.
However, the duo was finally parted in the 10th over after Mailata was caught and bowled by medium pacer Jikoi Kida.
The Samoan batsman was able to add a minor contribution of only 9 runs to his side’s total after facing 19 balls.
By the time the Fiji bowlers had secured their second wicket, their opponents managed to post a total of 48 runs in 9.3 overs.
Team captain Clarke was then joined in by all rounder Faasao Mulivai.
With Mulivai on the crease, complemented with the captain, the Samoan total saw a sudden rupture of runs and boundaries adding decent numbers to the total.
The two carried on with the session with an aggressive display of batting. However, the productive association finally came to a close in the 18th over of the innings.

Mulivai played a striking run at the crease after securing a half century. His innings ended after scoring 67 runs that included 4 boundaries and 7 sixes.
Mulivai’s contribution paved a safe way for the remaining batsmen to end the Samoan innings with a fair total.
