ICC World Cup 2011: Andrew Strauss hoping to avoid old mistakes
With only days to go into the ICC World Cup 2011, the talismanic England captain Andrew Strauss conceded on Monday that the England team had not performed up to the mark throughout their previous World Cup campaign in 2007 and said that
they would not repeat those mistakes again.
Blaming his team of playing a conservative brand of cricket in the previous World Cup in the West Indies, England skipper Andrew Strauss said that his side has learnt its lessons and would be looking to win the elusive trophy this time.
“The whole campaign in the 2007 World Cup was a poor one,” admitted Strauss. “We didn't start well, we never got going and played a very conservative brand of cricket. I hope we've learned lessons from it and won't repeat the mistakes,”
insisted the triumphant English captain who has led the side through a very successful 12-month period in the history of English cricket and is eying to win cricket’s flagship tournament in 2011.

Strauss admitted that the side did not perform well in the latest ODI series but he was confident the squad will be able to do well in the esteemed World Cup event.
“We didn't play good one-day cricket just recently. But we've got a solid squad, a very settled side and we really feel we can do really well in this tournament,” the skipper expressed.
The highlight of 2010 for England was their maiden victory in an International Cricket Council sponsored event. They won the ICC World Twenty20 2010 championship in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 under the leadership of Paul Collingwood.
Strauss said that the Twenty20 title would serve as the morale booster for the team.
