ICC World Cup 2011: Brett Lee promises to deliver in opener
Australia’s pace sensation Brett Lee has reaffirmed his commitment to perform in their ICC World Cup 2011 opening match against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Zimbabwe-c3045 on 21 February at the Sardar Patel Stadium in Ahmedabad, India.
Lee while talking to media in India assured that his side was still a world-beating outfit and had come well prepared for the mega event. However, Australia lost both of their warm-up games against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757.
Speaking to the media he said, “We have taken a lot out of these two practice matches which will put us in good stead for the first game on Monday.”
The Aussie pacer stressed that he would make the ball do all the talking once the event gets underway. He expressed satisfaction at his performance in the two warm-up matches even though the fixtures did not end the way Australia had hoped for.
He said, “I felt like I swung the ball early and bowled with some decent pace. In the first match I came back on with the older ball and it started to tail back in. They're really good signs. If I can keep that going I'll hopefully be able to get a few wickets.”
Lee also rubbished the concerns that Australia were not the same invincible outfit that they once were.
Australia are heavily relying on their pace attack to deliver in the Subcontinent. They are perhaps the only team which has come with a heavily loaded fast bowling contingent comprising of >Lee, Shaun Tait, Mitchell Johnson and Doug Bollinger. Surprisingly, they have brought only one genuine spinner in the form of Jason Krejza with them for the mega event.
