ICC World Cup 2011: India’s Eden Gardens in shambles
It seems whenever an international event is held in India, news of corruption, mismanagement and delays in work embarrass the country. Something similar is being witnessed yet again as several venues due to host the ICC World Cup 2011 are behind completion
schedule.
The worst of them all is the Eden Gardens stadium in Kolkata which is considered the country’s best stadium. The organisers are well behind schedule in its preparation and at present, it appears to be a graveyard.

The manager of the construction company working at the Eden Gardens, Sajal Pramanik, stated that they had less time for the construction work at the venue.
He claimed, “It's impossible to complete such a massive project in just 11 months. It's not magic. We need time to complete the work. I think the roof on the eastern block cannot be fixed before February.”
The joint secretary of the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mumbai-c820 Cricket Association said that everything was on schedule and the stadiums will be completed within time.
He said, “The ICC made some suggestions that we have taken into account and the construction is under control. They (the ICC) will be coming for an inspection on January 24. We should be ready.”

A http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747 cricket spokesman said, “We promise to deliver world-class facilities. We'll ensure power supplies at the venues are uninterrupted, floodlights work and that the pitches are of the highest standard.”
The Sri Lankan organisers have claimed that the venues would be prepared until 15
January 2011 and handed over to the ICC within the timeframe given.
