ICC World Cup 2011: http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shahid-Afridi-c2482 satisfied with the team Combination
The Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi is satisfied with the current winning combination of his national team and feels there is no need to make changes in a combination that is already working pretty well.
Asked if he would go in with a different strategy against the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 he said, “I'm happy with my winning combination and at this stage you cannot really change, especially in a quarterfinal. We have an off-spinner in Mohammad Hafeez, so let's
see. We haven't seen the pitch yet."
These words of the skipper would be difficult for the speedster Shoaib Akhtar to endure as it will mean that he would not be able to make his place in the squad for the quarter-finals and beyond. The speedsters last week announced that he would be
bidding farewell to International Cricket after the conclusion of the ongoing ICC World Cup 2011.
Akhtar missed Pakistan’s last two games against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Taylor-c92915. Pakistan subsequently won the next two games.
Speaking on the prospects of Akhtar in the remaining matches of the World Cup, Afridi reiterated that the speedsters will be used if and when the management feels the need to include him in the playing eleven.
Pakistan are on a high tide after beating the defending champions Australia in their last group A match. A victory against the Aussies is certainly a morale booster for the men in green who were pretty much written-off by many before the start of the
World Cup because of their entanglement with the controversy of spot-fixing, that saw three main players Salman Butt, Mohammad Amir and Mohammad Asif banned from the sport of cricket.
Nonetheless, even after the omission of pacers Asif and Amir, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755’s bowling attack has given a great performance in the mega event so far. Praising the bowing combination of his squad Afridi said, “Our bowling in this competition has been really
amazing. I'm happy to see the way Umar Gul, Abdur Rehman, http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/topic/search?q=Abdul%20Razzak have
bowled so far. I think Gul struggled with his ankle before but at the moment he is doing a great job with the new ball."
Afridi admitted that he needed to improve on his batting as his batting is extremely important for his side. So far, Afridi has struggled to score big runs with the bat. However, he has shown unmatchable form with the ball, making him a leading wicket
taker in the tournament. The all-rounder has taken 17 wickets in six matches so far.
Afridi’s habit of clobbering the ball will come in handy during the knock-out matches of the global cricketing event because his hard hitting can certainly leave the opposition awestruck and take the game away from right under their noses.
