ICC World Cup 2011: Tim Bresnan on fast track to recovery
England’s bowling all-rounder Tim Bresnan is fast recovering from his calf injury, but the Yorkshireman is in no hurry to be a part of competitive cricket before he is 100 per cent fit.
Bresnan has been a regular member of the England team in the limited-over format and played an important role in his team’s Twenty20 World Cup triumph in 2010. He also played a big part in England’s 2010-11 Ashes win against Australia, and took the final
wicket of the series which gave the urn back to his team.
However, the utility all-rounder sustained an injury after the first two One Day Internationals against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 recently. That kept him out of action for the remaining five matches against their archrivals and there were doubts over his participation in
the ICC World Cup 2011, which kicks off from 19 February.
Bresnan said, “It probably wasn't the ideal time to get injured. But the saving grace, silver lining, is that I have had a bit of time at home to relax and recharge my mind as well as my body.”
England have been hurt by many injury problems during their three-month tour down under. They lost many of their key players for the ODI series against Australia and some even sustained serious injuries which cost them a chance to represent their team in
the mega event.
The biggest blow for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c749 was the injury to their promising ODI batsman Eoin Morgan. Many claimed that Morgan was England’s best player in the team and his absence will hurt their chances largely.
England Team Director Andy Flower raised concerns over the busy schedule of the team and said that the Board will have to look into the matter seriously. He further demanded a say in finalising the tours of the team especially ahead of a major event like
the World Cup.
England will be playing two warm-up games prior to their first game of the tournament. They will be hoping to have a trouble free event in terms of players’ fitness.
England have not had the best of teams since the 1992 World Cup and this is their best chance to make it to the final again and win the tournament for the first time in their history.
