ICC World Cup 2011: Virender Sehwag leads Indian blitz
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Virender-Sehwag-c95429’s superb half-century put India in command against Bangladesh in the opening game of the ICC World Cup 2011 being played at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur, Bangladesh.
As a result, India got off to a sparkling start, scoring 104 runs for the loss of one wicket in 15 overs. A platform has been set for the strong middle-order batsmen to put up a massive total.
Sehwag went ballistic right from the start of his innings and displayed a brilliant array of shot play. He was severe on anything that was short and wide and even despatched decent deliveries to the boundaries. In his brutal 60-run knock, the destructive
opening batsman hammered 7 boundaries and a towering six.
Sachin Tendulkar also looked in sublime touch as he was middling the ball nicely. In his 29-run knock, he despatched four deliveries to the fence. He looked well settled before he ran himself out off a poor call. Shakib Al-Hasan threw the ball to the wicketkeeper
when both the batsmen were dumbfounded at the non-striker’s end.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747’s bowling attack was put to the sword by Tendulkar and Sehwag. All of them went for over six runs an over.
However, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Abdur-Razzak-c41688 bowled better than his figures would suggest, taking 0 for 32 in his 5 overs. The left-arm spinner troubled the opposition batsmen with his left-arm angle but did not get any support from the other end.
Currently http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Gautam-Gambhir-c58623 has joined Sehwag, and has so far added 10 runs to the scorecard. It will be a good opportunity for the dashing one-down player to score big as he has been in supreme form.
Sehwag looks well set for a massive score and if he manages one, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 will rack up a mammoth total. A daunting task faces Bangladeshi bowlers and they would have to take a couple of quick wickets in order keep the run rate in check.
