Sehwag is an aggressive right-handed opening batsman and is an expert at hitting boundaries.
Born on, 20 October 1978 in Najafgarh, Sehwag made his first class debut for Delhi’s cricket team in 1997-98. After that, he was selected for the North Zone Cricket team for the Duleep Trophy and was the fifth highest scorer for his team in 1998-99.
In the next season, he became the fourth highest run scorer of Duleep Trophy including a 274, which was the highest score of the tournament.

He has played total of 87 Test matches and scored 7694 runs at an average of 53.43 including 22 centuries and 27 fifties. He last played a Test match against South Africa at Cape Town in January 2011.
He scored the fastest 250 in Test cricket off 207 balls and the fastest 300 in Test cricket off 278 balls.
Sehwag is the only Indian batsman to score two triple centuries in Test cricket. He is the first player in the history of Test cricket to make two triple centuries and claim five wickets in a Test match.
