There is little doubt that the West Indies cricket team in this year’s ICC World T20 of 2012, oozes with talent and flare and their performances are bound to light up stadiums across the Emerald Isle. They have Chris Gayle’s ‘gale’ that could blow the socks out of their respective oppositions, and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/DJ-Bravo-c1379, both of whom could single-handedly win games for their team, with little or no fuss whatsoever. Yet despite the fact that the West Indies are tailor made for T20 cricket, they do not have someone in their squad or their batting line up for that matter, which could stabilize the innings if a rare batting collapse does take place.
Perhaps, the role of an ‘anchorman’ is not needed in a side which brims with confidence whenever they play with a ‘no holds barred’ approach. The truth in this year’s tournament however, is that the pitches in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/DM-Bravo-c1386, where his calm approach could rub off and stabilize the innings but he himself is known for his recklessness at the top of the order.
These factors could hurt the progression of the West Indies in the latter stages of the tournament. Teams which have historically done well in the ICC World T20 have always had a player who could anchor the innings and steer the ship out of troubled waters. One can think of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/KC-Sangakkara-c1779 of Sri Lanka have been known to caress the ball into the gaps and ensure that further damage is averted after the initial top order stutter.
Another problem for the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/CH-Gayle-c1221 to deliver for them at the top of the order, in recent times. Previous T20 encounters have shown that whenever the champion batsman has deposited sixes out of the park and looked to play an innings of substance, the Windies have won games, piling up huge totals in due course. Yet at the same time, whenever the team has capitulated at the top, they have further sunk into trouble, and failed miserably in their tactics of smashing their way out of precarious situations. In light of this, someone who could anchor the innings and play a knock of substance and maturity could be badly needed for a team which is known to blow hot and cold, despite oozing with talent.
