Continued from Part III .....
After losing the match against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/AB-de-Villiers-c887 in his post-match interview said, “I'm proud of the way we fought back. We lost it in the last five overs. Captaincy wise one or two errors there."
Meanwhile, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Umar-Gul-c94604, who bamboozled his opponents with the bat in his hand, said in his post match interview, “I must thank to my coach. I told Akmal that we should stay at the crease, the flick is my favourite shot."
Having failed to manage his bowlers against Pakistan, it was time for de Villiers to make amends in the next match against the mighty Australians.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 v Australia (Australia won by 8 wickets)
With the two top teams in modern-day cricket going at each other, fans at R Premadasa Stadium, Colombo, had gathered in anticipation of nail biter.
After winning the toss Australia made headways by grabbing their first wicket on the third delivery of the opening over without allowing South Africa to put anything on the board.
Then with eight runs, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/JH-Kallis-c1692 who had come at number-three became the second wicket of the day when he was removed by Doherty for six.
This was a perfect start for the Aussies and now the South Africans needed to regroup and avoid losing any further wickets to at least post a total good enough to defend.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Hamisi-Abdallah-c61368 was removed by Watson after scoring 17.
It was then time for the Proteas skipper to join Duminy, however, this partnership also failed to unnerve the Australians as with 46 on the board, Duminy became the fourth wicket of the match, finding his way off the field after scoring 30 runs.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Allan-Robert-Border-c43726 de Villiers then belted a knock of 21 before he was also neutralized by the fielding side. Facing an intimidating bowling attack, South Africa managed to post a decent total of 146 for five in 20 overs.
With this total it was imperative for South Africa to give a bowling performance of a life time in order to halt the likes of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MEK-Hussey-c1942 from successfully reaching the target.
The South Africans, exhibited their weakness against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/XJ-Doherty-c2804, who nabbed three wickets in his four over and troubled the batsmen enough to cause panic and halt the flow of runs.
Aiming to bowl-out their opponents, South Africa drew first blood with ten runs on the board when http://www.senore.com/Cricket/DA-Warner-c1301 was removed by Morkel for five.
A couple of more wickets, and South Africa would have put Australia in a lot of trouble. However, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Watson-c96326 and Hussey forged a partnership that not only took the game out of the hands of the Proteas but also exposed the lack of lethality and creativity in
the South African bowling.
The two batsmen steered the side to 109 before Watson became the second and final wicket to fall after playing a staggering knock of 70 runs.
