ICC denies allegations from the Indian cricket team – News Update
The International Cricket Council’s (ICC’s) head of communications Colin Gibson has denied the allegations from the Indian cricket team regarding the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 Annual Award ceremony held in London on Monday, September 12, 2011.
The Indian team had skipped the ceremony saying that they were not informed within time to attend the function.
However, Gibson stated, “The Indian team management had been invited to attend tonight and they were invited some weeks ago. Those who were nominated for awards have known it since 26th of August, in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Canterbury-c775, when the short-listed names for the awards were announced.”
Another spokesman of the sport’s governing body said, “If it wasn't so, the Indian team ought to have left for Cardiff (the venue of the final One Day International) today itself and not stayed back in London on Monday.”
Furthermore, the sources in the ICC claimed to have evidence against the allegations made by the Indian team. The sources revealed that the invitation was emailed to the team and they responded to it as well.
Earlier, the Indian team’s management had claimed that the players were not present in the hotel when the invitation was sent by the ICC due to which it was not possible to be at the ceremony.
