ICC requires a “fixing” for the Cliché
There seems to be no doubt whatsoever regarding the dismal status of Pakistan cricket at the moment. Some might argue that responsibility falls on the not so fit shoulders of PCB in context of the status quo, yet the role of the International Cricket Council should not be placed at the back burner. The council, which now poses serious questions in terms of credibility itself, reflects a state in which war has been declared against Pakistan cricket in every manner possible.
The announcement regarding the probe into the Pakistan vs. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 t20 match in the last world cup has confirmed the fact that ICC has maybe lost it altogether. While this will be another dent to the already stumbling national cricket, it also raises eyebrows to the situation that this might be the “revenge” of the drawn Dubai test match between the same sides which Pakistan won on the grounds of survival. Doubts again find some space that how can spot fixing and match fixing be a part of the team that won the match in the first place? Answer to this question is still a concern and hilarious at the same time. But again the matters as they are being handled at the moment are providing strength to the argument that the International Cricket Council is indulging in direct confrontation with Pakistan cricket and is determined to damage the stake of the team in the international arena. This and their alignment with similarly directed forces appear to be major dents in their credibility. But lets forget all this because the Council has presumably “zero tolerance” policy towards corruption. And at the same time they present themselves more as the “International Council of Clowns” when it comes to unbiased and unprejudiced decision making.
Intentions appear to be shady and it seems that when it comes to Pakistan, the world is suddenly traumatized with not only security concerns but with the entire match.
The gurus of cricket ignore the basic fact that match fixing and spot fixing allegations do not mean that the convicted should be isolated even the when the charges are not proved. It rather points out that there are loop holes in the system which requires improvements all the time. Had it been another team involved in the same crime, the argument above would have been in place but this is the Pakistan team guys and they are to be punished even without a proof. There is no doubt that the house needs to be put in order in the first place so that unity and consolidation in defending the convictions is ensured, but that by no means indicate that the PCB should tolerate the undue pressure indicted by the forces against them. This is where an international institutionally deficient body is dictating terms to another weak institution which should be defied. The “mindset” of the individuals in the lobby against Pakistan can only be counterattacked by an equal and resilient national body. Let the ICC probe into this match in the same fashion as they did the Oval one day between http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 and England; the result is bound to be the same- “cleared”. This phobia needs to be controlled now otherwise the demand for probing into every match played in the history of Pakistan cricket will be aired. So without any further ado, this drama needs to be tackled effectively and let's hope this time the chairman, Ejaz Butt, does react in a manner which is “sensible” and not the way in which he usually does.
