ICC reveals logo for 2015 World Cup- cricket update
International Cricket Council has revealed the logo for the 2015 World Cup, which is scheduled to be hosted by Australia and New Zealand.
After ending the 2011 mega event on a high note, the ICC is prepared to turn its focus on promoting the 2015 World Cup. The cricketing body started with designing the logo as a step in that direction. Agencies across the globe submitted their applications, the contract of which was finally awarded to the Australian agency, FutureBrand.
ICC requested the agency to design a logo that represents the cultures of both host countries, and endorses a sentiment of unity and commemoration.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 and New Zealand Cricket have all worked together with the consultancies to produce this beautiful logo. I am sure that it will gain recognition over the next four years as we use it in promotional, marketing and partner activations.”
The motif consists of Maori Tohora, a tribal symbol depicting toughness, and pride, accompanied by Aboriginal journey tracks that portray spirit of the land. And finally, a Balarinji, which demonstrates toughness, glory, resilience, connection, and a sense of belonging.
Justin Vaughan, Chief Executive http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754 cricket, is delighted by hosting the Cup. He feels honoured, and believes it to be a great challenge for the host countries. He, however, asserted that both Australia and New Zealand are ready for these challenges.
Australian Chief Executive, James Sutherland said, “This really brings it home to people in Australia and New Zealand that the countdown to the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 has started. We have four years of hard work ahead of us but I am certain that we can match the very high standards set by the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011.”
Sutherland hopes that cricket lovers in hosting countries will welcome touring countries and their supporters.
In other news, ICC Executive Board affirmed that in 2015 and 2019 World Cups, the number of teams will be reduced to 10 as compared to 14 in 2011 edition of World Cup. This means ICC associate teams will not be part of next two major events.
However, ICC has increased the number of teams in Twenty20 to 16, in order to compensate associate teams, thereby giving them a chance to be represented in an ICC event every two years.
The board will also introduce league system in 2019, a system by which teams will be promoted and relegated.  For the 2019 World Cup teams will be decided on the basis of qualification.
Ireland skipper, William Porterfield is amongst many who are infuriated by the cricket governing bodies’ decision. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 down the wire.
Porterfield asserted that it is a shame that Ireland has done everything the ICC wanted, but is still being unfairly restricted from playing in 2015. He further expressed that Ireland is ranked as the 10th team in One Day Internationals, and they have the potential to jump a place or two, so closing the doors on them is nothing but an embarrassment.
