ICC shortlist nominees for top honours – Cricket News Update
The International Cricket Council has shortlisted the nominees for the ninth ICC awards, scheduled to take place in Colombo on September 15.
Kumar Sangakkara leads the way after being nominated for the top three honours, ICC Cricketer of the Year, Test Cricket of the Year and ICC ODI Cricket of the Year. A long list of players was first put forward by a five-man ICC selection panel (headed by the current chairman of ICC Cricket Committee http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 umpires and match referees, along with media representatives.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/BAW-Mendis-c1127 have been named as the top T20 performers.
A total of 11 prizes will be handed out, including other categories such as the ICC Women’s ODI and T20I Cricketer of the Year, ICC Umpire of the Year and Associate and Affiliate Cricketer of the Year.
The nominations have been made on the basis of performances from August 4, 2011 to August 6th of this month.
