ICC upholds http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 suspensions
The International Cricket Council has upheld provisional suspensions to key Pakistan players Salman Butt and Mohammad Amir.
The duo were suspended in the middle of a tour to England over the summer because of spot-fixing allegations. Both players have had appeals rejected while the other suspended player Mohammad Asif withdrew
his appeal action.
"I've dismissed the application. All three players accordingly are still, for the time being, unable to participate in cricketing activities," said the ICC's code of conduct head Michael Beloff.
Pakistan will now be forced to play any matches in the foreseeable future without some important and effective players. This will weaken the side and make Pakistan less of an intimidating threat.
The consequences
The consequences of this news are quite clear. Butt, Amir and Asif are currently banned from playing any first-class professional cricket anywhere in the world.
This means they have no chance of playing for the Pakistan national team or playing for a county side in England or a state side in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746. Investigations over the three players are still ongoing and
a permanent suspension is a real possibility.
This is a huge blow to the Pakistan side because Butt was the Test match captain before picking up the ban. Asif and Amir were the opening bowling partnership and are responsible for taking a lot of wickets.
"I believe the ICC has some solid evidence against our players otherwise they would have allowed them to continue playing. They heard our players and lawyers for over 12 hours and they must have told them
something which we still don't know. It will be disappointing that we will not be able to see these top players in action against South Africa [current limited overs series]," added former Pakistan Test player http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sarfraz-c88817 Nawaz.
