ICC will be disappointed if Trio gets acquitted
The Chief Executive of International Cricket Council http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Salman-c88163 Butt, Mohammad Amir and Mohammad Asif manage to clear themselves from
the accusations of spot-fixing.
Lorgat said that the International Cricket Council will deal swiftly with the three Pakistani players should they be found guilty. The ICC feels that strict punishments for the players involved in spot-fixing is the only cure to root out corruption from
the sport of cricket.
The ICC Chief Executive is confident that the ICC has prepared a strong case against the players, he said, “We’ve worked hard at collecting all the evidence that we would require to make the charges stand. I am confident that our guys have worked very hard
in ensuring they have got a case they can present which should stand the test of scrutiny.”
Lorgat further said, “We need to send out a strong message and that is part of what we want to achieve.”
These statements have irked many in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755. Salman Butt’s lawyer Khalid Ranjha has criticised the ICC’s Chief Executive’s remarks by saying that such statements only show that the ICC has already made up its mind and the hearing in January by the ICC to
give the players a chance to clear their names is not going to be transparent.
Ranjha believes that such statements by Lorgat have undermined the credibility of the ICC’s Tribune and now the players may not have any faith left in this hearing commission at all.
The lawyer said that such comments will definitely have an impact on the outcome of hearing set to begin next month in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Qatar-c2986. The lawyer suggested that such harsh statements will serve no one and may even persuade the players into boycotting the tribunal.
This spot-fixing scandal further took a turn for the worse this week when a video of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mazhar-c75448 Majeed was realised in which the tainted bookie accused four more Pakistani players (Imran Farhat, Kamran Akmal, Umar Akmal and Wahab Riaz) of being involved in spot-fixing.
