ICC’s ODI batting and bowling rankings as of June 05, 2012, South Africans continue their dominance – Cricket News Update
Indian skipper, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, and his deputy Virat Kohli find themselves comfortable among the top five batsmen in the latest ICC ODI rankings for batsmen, released on Tuesday.
Hard hitting Kohli is relishing the third spot on the table with 846 rating points, while skipper Dhoni, trailing the Delhi dasher by 94 points, finds himself fourth on the standings. Promising Indian opener, Gautam Gambhir, who has
recently led Kolkata Knight Riders to their maiden IPL title, is the next best Indian batsman, sitting at 17th place with 666 rating points in his bag.
The top two spots on the ICC ODI Championship table are occupied by South African batting veterans Hashim Amla (871 rating points) and AB de Villiers (851 rating points). Sri Lankan wicketkeeper batsman, Kumar Sangakkara, finds himself
fifth on the rankings, followed by England’s Jonathan Trott and Alastair Cook. Australian skipper Michael Clarke stands eighth on the table while Shane Watson is ninth. Pakistan’s Umar Akmal is the 10th best one-day batsman with 689 rating points.
The ICC ODI bowling rankings are also headed by a South African fast bowler, Lonwabo Tsotsobe, with 743 points. Pakistan’s prolific spinner Saeed Ajmal continues to relish the second spot on the ODI bowling rankings with 729 rating
points in his bag.
South Africa pacer Morne Morkel (695 rating points) stands third on ICC's ODI bowling rankings. Pakistan off-spinner Mohammad Hafeez, trailing Morkel by 10 points, finds himself 4th on the table, while spearhead England
spinner Graeme Swann is the fifth best bowler, according to the latest rankings, with a difference of only 2 points (683 as compared to Hafeez’ 685), and could topple the Pakistan all-rounder with an improved performance in the ODI series against West Indies
later this month.
Ravichandran Ashwin (676) of India stands sixth on the rankings followed by Daniel Vettori (669) of New Zealand and Steve Finn (655) of England. Shakib Al Hasan is the only Bangladesh bowler to make the cut in the top 10 ODI bowlers.
Kyle Mills of New Zealand is the 10th best ODI bowler, while None of the Australian bowlers could feature in the top 10.
