ICC’s 'warning' to PCB a shame for Pakistan - Imran Khan

Pakistan’s legendary former captain, Imran Khan has called for a revamping of the incumbent PCB administration after International Cricket Council asked Pakistan Cricket Board to improve its governance and implement anti-corruption measures.
Last week, ICC had cautioned the board to fix its management and set up its own anti-corruption code or else should get ready to face the consequences otherwise, most probably in the form of sanctions.
“PCB must act and be seen to be acting to uphold the zero-tolerance attitude towards corruption in sport. In this regard, PCB is required to conduct a thorough review of player integrity issues across all authorized cricket in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 and report back to
the Pakistan Task Team within 30 days,” the cricket's world governing body had said in a statement.
Imran Khan called it a 'shame'. “ICC's move to warn us and put us on notice is a shameful day for every Pakistani. It is a shame for Pakistan cricket and the reason is that we don’t have any cricket institutions in Pakistan,” said http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Khan-c71319 as quoted by the local
media reports.
Khan also termed PCB chairman, Ijaz Butt’s governance a complete failure and hammered him for the apology that he made to ECB.
“Ijaz Butt’s governance has been a failure. He should have resigned the moment he had apologized to the England board and withdrawn his statement because they had threatened him with legal action,” he added.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Imran-c64193 maintained that Pakistan had a lot of cricket talent but Pakistan cricket has been in constant crisis over the past few years due to the lack of “meritocracy” in the local cricketing structure. He also criticized the involvement of politics in cricket
affairs. “Tell me in which country does the President appoints the chairman of the cricket board."
The 1992 world cup winning captain blamed PCB administration for not carrying out fair investigation into the recent spot-fixing allegations against the Pakistani players. He claimed that PCB had been reluctant in doing so in order to save itself.
