ICE SKATE HELP (sharpening)?

Ok i recently got some ice skates as a gift for christmas. I live in arizona and i was wondering if anyone from az new where i could get them sharpened. I've never owned a pair before so i'm kinda new at knowing if they are presharpened or if they need to be sharpened. Please help i love to skate but i know i can't without them being sharpened. I you need more info like the name of the skates please ask i will be happy to give u the info!!!! thanks so much

  1. Skate blades usually come with a factory edge that you can skate it, but it is best to get them sharpened. I would suggest going to your local pro shop and asking if they have somebody who specializes in sharpening figure skates. If they do then go ahead and have them sharpen your skates. Good luck!


  2. Sadly I don't know either (never been to Arizona before). However, the rule of a good sharpening is to know who the good sharpening guy is. I'd kill the guy if I went to some hockey guy that is an instructor for regulr people during public sessions to hack away my blades to pieces (actually it already happened to me once), considering my blades cost me over 150 dollars.

    Ask the figure skaters nd their coaches, if they trust a specific guy to sharpen their blades right, you're in the right track. Sharpening costs less than 10 dollars.
