was able to hit the top spot in the Western Semi-Finals.
The championship will be supported by the official sponsors U.S. Sailing and Marlow. The participants were divided into two fleets, the Eastern fleet and Western fleet, comprising of 18 teams. The leading nine school teams from each group qualified for the
2012 Gill/ICSA Coed Dinghy National Championship Finals which will begin from June 6 at Austin in Texas.
Both Eastern and Western fleets took part in 14 races to feature the final 18 teams for the 2012 Gill/ICSA Coed Dinghy National Championship. The participants began the proceedings on the Windward/Leeward courses where 420s and FJs completed the scheduled
14 races.
While speaking to the media, president of the ICSA and head coach for Old Dominion University, Mitch Brindley said, “It was great sailing this weekend, choppy and tough competition.”
On the other hand, Mike Callahan, head coach for Georgetown University, added, “Today turned out to be windy with few shifts and nice waves. The difference in who won races was who got off the starting line cleanly and was not called over early.”
